thank you so much for sharing this. I agree with you, it is a great place to go to. Moreover, the Bora-like beach without noisy bars and drinks is non-negotiable requirement for me. :) I hope you’ll have a wonderful Holy Week. Take care and God bless

Comment was well-appreciated, sir. :) Have a safe and wonderful Holy Week too. God bless.

Marinduque

I know everybody is now on their vacation trips but for those who are still in doubt where to spend their Lenten-slash-summer getaway, I hope it is not too late to share this one. I have chosen to feature Marinduque because you will be able to reflect and at the same time enjoy the beach, and festivity of the place.

Why you should go?

1. Marinduque is best known for its Lenten Moriones Festival in the capital of Boac. The locals especially the male participants don masks depicting Roman soldiers called Morion..

2. Boracay-like beach minus the bar and drinks. You can also enjoy the serene Poctoy beach in Torrijos that can be compared to Boracay because of its fine and white sand. However, there is no bar and party place here, only souvenir shops and tiangge-an.

3. Step foot on the sand bar. It’s a place you should never miss when you go here. The place is called Palad because the sand bares during regular low tide, located in Maniwaya.

4. Go spelunking. If you’re into caving activity, you should visit the known Bathala Caves that consist 26 spectacular chambers.

5. Or, soak yourself into the therapeutic sulfur springs in Malbog, Buenavista.

6. Visit the historical church in Sta. Cruz. This church has fortress-like designs and antique decorations. This was built during the colonial era.

“The evening was by now well advanced. The darkness hung in the air but spread out in suspended powder which only made the vanishing colours more vivid. The zenith was a strong blue, the horizon a radiant amethyst.”

I am always in dramatic fascination whenever I see the sun descends. Luckily, I have my trusty digicam with me to capture that moment.

Dreaming of burying my feet in the sand

Summer vacation is just around the corner and for sure people are now planning where to spend their summer. March always reminds me of beach—scorching heat, sand, hammock hanging between coconut trees, swimsuits, shades, and the salty fresh breeze. For me, going out of town is a great escape or sometimes best reward we can give to ourselves. It is a time to break away, be a free-spirit and just enjoy. But I really don’t know yet if I can afford to have one because of my schedule and nature of work.

Below is a screenshot of my excitement over summer. I updated my photo cover and changed my profile pic. My photo cover looks nice along with my display picture, right?

The pictures were taken in two different places: Poctoy beach in Marinduque and my picture taken in Carlagan island in Quezon province.

Maybe in the coming days, I will post  some pictures of the places I’ve been during the past summer seasons just to compensate my loneliness of the higher possibility of staying in the newsroom while my friends are putting sun block lotions onto their skin and burying their bodies in sand. Ugh.

Bingo, a college friend, messaged the group to spend time in Caramoan Island before summer ends.

The group has been meaning to have a summer vacay despite of our conflicting schedules and excuses. But I really don’t know if this plan will work. Haha. And honestly, I still don’t know if I could come, but I really want to. But prior to that, I already told him that I’m planning to visit Ilocos before June because that I’ve never been there yet. Haha. Pity me.

At this moment, I’m just dreaming of removing my stilettos and bury my feet in the sand.

I’m always in Tagaytay but I’ve never been here! This looks so cool!

Medyo hindi kasi kapansin-pansin ‘yung shop that’s why I think only few people go here. Worth visiting, though. :) Punta ka minsan. :)

any painting for sale/auction?

Yes po sir, all the artworks displayed are for sale. It’d be nice if you’ll try  to visit it sometime. :)

Java Jazz Coffee Shop

Have you heard of a homey cafe that also exhibits artworks? Well, here’s not a typical cafe you can see in malls. Actually the location of this place is perfect, a cafe you can find in the coolest place near Manila—Tagaytay.

Java Jazz cafe offers delicious hot drinks and cold drinks, as well as pasta and rice meals in an affordable prices. They also have their own version of hot chocolate drink known as Tsokolate-Ah! (Thick hot chocolate with milk) partnered with mamon tustado.

While sipping your hot drink, you can hear the low music playing on the background which really adds to the homey ambiance. Java Jazz is a cozy place which also features artworks hanging on the walls and some are placed on the floor known as Art on the Floor (Sining sa Sahig). The artworks are all made by local artists and all the displays have price tags. Also, adjacent to the cafe is an art gallery where you can find more artworks.

The place is just part of an entire house, actually it’s a lodging house. As you can see in some of the photos, the shop is in the attic that’s why it has a low-ceiling.

Now, if you’re on your way to Tagaytay don’t forget to visit this place. It’s worth it because of the good people, ambiance, and truly delicious drinks and pasta. It’s just in front of Monte Vista hotel, take the road going to Tagaytay Picnic grove. Now, i’m calling all Starbucks, Mocha blends, and Figaro drinkers, to give Java Jazz a try. And oh, by the way, only few people know this place, so you won’t have problem with crowd or noise.

Regina SpektorAll The Rowboats

New single from the upcoming album ‘What We Saw From The Cheap Seats

Regina Spektor is really love. Oh my. I’m so in love with her ever since. Try to listen and you will be hypnotized by her quirky style in music.

Soon, I will conquer the vastness of the sky

Soaring high with the wings I desire

Stepping out from my cocoon

I will ignite.

Soon, I will be the creator of my own light

Glowing.

A trail to find their own iota of light.
